One might be off-put simply because it’s old and thus the style is pretty different than what we’re used to today.The Court Jester is a TV show that was first aired in 1970. So…when you get down to it, what did I think? I loved it. Pretty grim for such a light-hearted comedy. They then role on their backs and with their legs, nimbly bounce the unconscious enemy soldiers up a staircase, across a castle roof and then right over the castle wall into the ocean where they all presumably drown in the murky depths. And then at the end, in one of the movie’s most surreal images, a troop of acrobatic midgets that are friends of Hubert’s enter the battle and help defeat enemy soldiers. A guy gets bloodlessly shot with an arrow at the start three other characters are comically poisoned to death in the middle, and another sympathetic character is tortured to death off-screen. ![]() The Court Jester is a family friendly movie, but it is also surprisingly gruesome. ![]()
