Anyone using the Blackmagic Thunderbolt 2 MultiDock (version 2 with two TB ports,) for sample streaming/Pro. (And yes, I know, SSD's are always going to be preferable over spinners.) I don't want to pay 10X more to put that sample library in larger Thunderbolt enclosures only to find that the bottleneck wasn't the enclosure it was the drive, and maybe USB 3.2 or 3.1 would have been sufficient. I'm thinking of transitioning my studio over to a 2019 16" MacBook Pro, which means that most of my huge (4TB) sample library will have to become external. It's easy enough to research that a TB3 enclosure can transmit 40GB/sec, and at the other end of the spectrum, USB 3.0 can transmit a max of 5GB/sec, however, what's not well documented is how much of that an active composer might use during a heavy streaming session of, say, 500-1000 voices of orchestral samples at a time. Even I think the multidock is overpriced and the max total read speed is only around 700 MB/s on Thunderbolt 2, Im happy about it.
